Best support DJs to catch on Ibiza in September 2019

Not headliners nor residents, but still great.

One thing Ibiza is not short on, is superstar DJs. Off the top of you head, we're sure you could name half a dozen without much thought. As great as these headliners are, the truth is that there is a lot of undercard talent that gets overlooked - especially on Ibiza.

Whilst today they may find themselves third or fourth on the bill, with passion, persistance and talent, these names will become the next wave of residents in seasons to come.

Take a look at Jamie Jones, as one example. The one time support act is now the face of his own weekly residency. Ah, the magic of Ibiza.

To get you started, we have rounded up our top must-see support acts behind the decks for September. Check it out.

Kinnerman | Toolroom | Eden | Sunday 8 September

Bursting onto the scene back in 2017, British producer Kinnerman made quite the entrance. High chart rankings, endorsements from established DJs and highly-praised live sets at some prestigious venues - all came in one year.

Our first recommendation takes on Toolroom at Eden tonight, Sunday 8 September. Expect upbeat, toe-tapping tracks - and don't be surprised if you hear some hip-hop samples thrown into the mix. Kinnerman is one for the unorthodox when it comes to selecting.

La Fleur | Resistance | Privilege | Tuesday 10 September

Swede La Fleur takes an elegant approach to house music, much like her name infers. Nonetheless, she is a force to be reckoned with. Already she has been hailed as one to watch, catching the attention of the likes of Sasha, Adam Beyer and the BBC Radio 1 dance music team.

Expect to be dancing in a hypnotic electronic soundscape when she takes on RESISTANCE at Privilege on Tuesday 10 September. You can catch her in the Vista Club now, but we reckon it won't be long before she hits the main room stage.

Fideles | Afterlife | Hï Ibiza | Thursday 12 September

Fideles is the duo formed of Daniele Aprile and Mario Roberti. The pair boast an impressive backlog of releases on labels such as Bedrock, Poker Flat and Afterlife. All have been seduced by the synthesised beats and dreamy vocals the pair execute with such finesse.

Fideles appear on the Afterlife line-up on Thursday 12 September to cast their enchanting beats onto Hï Ibiza's dance floor. Their deep, euphoric style will contrast nicely with the heavy techno artists on the bill. Make sure to check them out.

Jennifer Cardini | Transmoderna | Pacha | Friday 13 September

For those in the know, Jennifer Cardini is anything but a new face. However, the French DJ has stayed true to her underground roots, lurking in the peripherals and refusing to sell-out to commerciality. So a newcomer, no. But underrated? Most certainly.

Years spent club-hopping around Europe have inspired her deep house style, which is often complemented by spoken word toplines. She is known for setting a mood and captivating a crowd, whilst leading them through a musical journey.

You can find Jennifer playing for Transmoderna at Pacha on Friday 13 September.

My Nu Leng | Together | Amnesia | Tuesday 17 September

If you seek something a little more on the experimental side of things, look no further than My Nu Leng. The British duo are famed for their indescribable take on electronic music, fusing elements of drum and bass with house.

Their sets entail dirty beats, fast changing tempos, heavy distortion and often assistance from an MC. One thing their set never is, is predictable and that's why we love them. Catch them taking the Amnesia dancefloor by storm on Tuesday 17 September for the Together closing party.

Birds of Mind | B! Crazy | HEART Ibiza | Friday 20 September

When two friends Alex and Adrian decided to embark on a musical project together, nobody could have expected the grace and beauty of the final outcome - Birds of Mind. Both have collected memoirs of their travels and practises of music, which form their truly individual sound.

Drawing inspiration from the environment around them, their music explores organic sounds of nature and ancient civilisations. This outlook is supplemented by rich electronic beats, making the act the perfect addition to Jean Claude Ades' B!CRAZY on Friday 20 September at HEART.

Alex Kennon | Dance or Die | Ushuaïa | Wednesday 25 September

Now here is a guy with a true passion for music. Alex Kennon has spent years developing his sound with stamps of approval from crowds all around the world for his high-octane sets.

What can you expect when he plays live? Even we don't know - we're not even sure if he does. Alex is one for moulding a full DJ set off the cuff. All that is guaranteed is that he will dabble in the sweet spot between house and techno.

To find out more, you'll have to wait until Wednesday 25 September when Kennon joins the DANCE OR DIE closing party at Ushuaïa.

The moral of the story goes like this: next time you attend a party on Ibiza, don't arrive five minutes prior to the headline set. Instead, take a chance on the support line-up. You never know, you could be dancing face to face with next year's next big breakthrough star.

To check out all of these amazing support acts and more this month, keep up to date with our Party Calendar.
