The San Antonio City Council has announced that this year they will not organize the traditional Carnival parade due to the current restricctions to avoid the spread of Covid-19.
As an alternative, the Department of local Fiestas has organized a costume contest through the social networks. The contest is open to all persons registered in the municipality of San Antonio and they may participate until February 19 by publishing a video in horizontal format of a maximum duration of one minute or a maximum of three photographs on Facebook or Instagram with the hashtag #CarnavalAPortmany2021.
Participants will be able to register in the adult or child categories (up to 12 years old), which have the subcategories of individual, couple or family group consisting only of cohabiting people. In addition, the kindergardens and educational centers of the municipality may also participate by bubble groups.
In the publication in networks, the category in which the participant is participating and the title of the costume must be stated, and the educational centers must indicate the name of the center and the participating course. To be eligible for the awards, the publications must be public so that the jury can see them.
For the scoring originality, creativity, the use of recycled material, animation, elaboration and costume making, among other aspects, will be valued.
The San Antonio City Council will deliver up to 4.560 euros in prizes:
- Individual: 6 prizes of 50 euros (3 child and 3 adult)
- Couples: 6 prizes of 60 euros (3 children and 3 adults)
- Family groups: 6 prizes of 100 euros (3 children and 3 adults)
- Kindergardens: 3 prizes of 100 euros
- Schools: 10 prizes of 300 euros
