A well organised gang of four young Rumanians was arrested by the police this week accused of robbing over €6000 from more than 63 public telephones in April.
The modus operandi of the gang was that while one member drilled into the telephone and nullified the security system, the others would stand round shielding him from view. Once the cash had been stolen, the hole was temporarily sealed, thus making easy pickings on the next visit by the thieves.
What is astonishing about this is that two members of this gang were arrested FIVE times in Madrid last year for doing the very same thing!
