August in Ibiza

Busy and hot are two words that could sum up the month of August in Ibiza

Busy and hot are two words that could sum up the month of August in Ibiza. Busy because more people than at any other time are on the island and hot, er because it's hot, really hot.

There'll certainly be fireworks this month with four organised displays taking place around the island in some big, and not so big, local fiestas. Ibiza town starts the gunpowder plot on the 8th August with a massive display around the marina area, it's Cala Llonga's turn on the 15th, the 24th is San Bartolome day in San Antonio, and finally, San Agustin lights the blue touchpaper on the 28th!

Don't forget that the fireworks are only the culmination of days of celebrations and we've already published more information about live concerts taking place as part of these Fiestas.

Another annual shindig, the Ibiza Jazz Festival takes place a little earlier this year, from 15th to 18th, at its usual home of the Santa Lucia Battlements in Ibiza's walled old town. Under new management this year, the organiser has promised a late bar for after the concerts where informal jam sessions will be held with local musicians and the artists from the festy.

ibiza bike week

Finally, if you like all the really good things in life; beer, babes, bikes, beer and beach, not necessarily in that order, then the 21st annual Ibiza Bike Week roars into action on the 4th in Playa den Bossa when leather clad Frankfurt investment bankers bring their gleaming two wheelers to town for BBQs, live music, striptease, rides out together and a special treat for them all on the 8th – a trip to the fireworks in Ibiza town.

Have a good August!
