Girl DJ power at RESISTANCE for PLAYdifferently

Top talent from Privilege’s techno Tuesday party chat about the clubbing industry.

RESISTANCE kicked things off with a bang at their opening party earlier this week, bringing thundering techno back to Privilege's dance floors. Stellar curated line-ups combined with impressive production and lighting make this Tuesday party a clubbing behemoth on Ibiza.

With the rest of the summer ahead of them, more brilliant DJs fill this season's roster. Top talent from around the globe will take to two stages bringing banging tunes week after week until 11 September. Every date brings something special to the clubbing table.

For their second date on 24 July, PLAYdifferently presents Analogue/Digital is a prime example of the remarkably curated line-ups.

In the Main Room, you have techno royalty drop in as Richie Hawtin steps up along with Matador and Fabio Florido playing solo sets. A huge back-to-back by Dubfire, Nicole Moudaber and Paco Osuna will certainly get feet moving. And that's not all.

In the Vista Club Terrace, the line-up features a brilliant selection of female DJ talent. ANNA will be going back to back with Francesca Lombardo. It will be definitely worth seeing these two slamming out a set together. They are joined by Nastia, Hito and Lauren Lo Sung who will undoubtedly bring fire to the dance floor.

We recently chatted to ANNA, Francesca Lombardo, Hito and Lauren Lo Sung about females in the Ibiza clubbing scene.

ANNA

It is really amazing to see where the scene is right now in regards to females in the industry. There are a lot more female DJs, so there is no way of going back. Especially if you consider that these DJs are just as big as the male DJs, they are concurring a space where they can inspire other young girls to give a try on their dreams and believe they can have their space also.

Male or female for me it never made a difference - for me it is about the artist in general and the music, but I know, there is a lot of talk about the presence of females right now and I think it is a very important discussion. There is no way of ignoring that yes there is a much bigger presence now in the scene in general and, of course, this affects Ibiza as it's the mecca of the summer nightclubs. I hope to see it more and more on the island over the next few years.

HITO

It's not so unusual now to see female DJs and I think the music scene itself changed a lot, too, in recent years.

I think it's great that many women express themselves as DJs and are able to share this openly to the world.

Francesca Lombardo

Since I first arrived at the island I have steadily seen more and more females on the bill, and the pace seems to be increasing every day. Obviously, there is still a lot of work to be done so that talented females are represented as fairly as men, but I am still incredibly happy about this change I see. I can truly feel it balancing the club scene's energy behind the decks.

Lauren Lo Sung

There's definitely more female DJs around now. I just believe more women are actually giving DJing a go these days. We are all ‘DJs' not ‘female' or ‘male' DJs, it's just about music.

Check out the second date of RESISTANCE Ibiza next Tuesday 24 July. Appropriately at the biggest club in the world, it will leave its mark - no doubt about that. There's nothing quite like it on the island and beyond. See below for full details and tickets.
