The San Rafael Racecourse, or Hipódromo de San Rafael, is a prominent equestrian venue located on the outskirts of the village of San Rafael.
Established in the mid-20th century, it has become the central hub for trotting races (trote), hosting regular races that attract both locals and tourists eager to experience this unique aspect of island culture.
Generally races take place daytime on Sundays, all year round, but during the hotter months (starting around June) races move to Saturday evenings.
The racecourse is situated on a spacious 82,500 m² site, featuring a grandstand with a capacity for 700 spectators, a multi-purpose hall, a bar-cafeteria, and ample parking facilities.
Its versatility allows it to accommodate a wide range of events beyond equestrian sports, including cultural festivals, business meetings, and social gatherings.
