It is a magnificent spectacle of decorated carts and local men & women in costume, but during the festival period, there will also be a variety of entertainment with games, dancing, singing and a market. They celebrate, according to legend, the lucky escape of the villagers when the church collapsed. That the collapse occurred just after all the congregation had left the church, was interpreted by the people as a miracle. This miracle occurred on the first Sunday in May and has been celebrated every year thereafter.
