Things to do this month on Ibiza - December 2017

Our choice December picks await you.

Yes, it's December, the month when you will be wanting to do things that remind you of Christmas, whether you celebrate it officially or not. This is a time of year for eating, meeting and dancing and would you believe it, that covers everything we have compiled for you. There may not be snowflakes, Santa may not come through the chimney but you are always guaranteed some fun here on Ibiza.

Tapas meets live music

Warming up winter is the new Tapas Musicales taking place bars in and around San Jose, with three weekly Saturday dates this month from 2 December. You will be able to tell which bars by the sweet sound of music and people chatting on the streets. Top island rock bands, DJs that span dance music to nineties' pop and some great tapas... oh and a beer or three make this event a must do this month. Full details in our events' calendar.

Oil, garlic and a little salt

An emblematic sauce for this part of the Med, alioli (literally garlic and oil) turns up on most restaurant and bar tables to accompany your meal, either with bread or meat and fish. The Alioli Festival on 9 December is running a competition to choose the best alioli maker; you could sign up for that or just go along to try different aliolis with great food, listen to some live music, sink a craft beer or watch a puppet show.

Supernatural party

After a couple of successful trials, new party night Ethereal is here each Friday night from December onwards at B12 Club. Curated by Ibiza People, the night combines visual art with top-label DJs. You are invited to open your perception to both - or you could just have a rip-roaring time at a great new winter night out. The first Friday of December will see the surrealist works of Madama Dali on display while Ivan Sky, Ethan Heich, Gustin and Gray Swan will be taking care of the tunes. The event starts with a free aperitif 22:00.

Switched on for Christmas

Seeing the lights turned on is a lovely, warm-your-tummy Christmas treat. So far, San Antonio has confirmed 1 December at 18:00 in its main tree-lined avenue for the switch on. At the same time on 5 December Santa Eulalia does the same ¡in Plaza España. Ibiza Town's event is staying at the new venue of Plaza de Antoni Albert i Nieto on 1 December at 18:30. You will see trees and streets lit, choirs singing and markets offering food and seasonal gifts. Bon Nadal!

Foodies get your skates on

Two of Ibiza's restaurant festivals are ending on 10 December so hurry! Local, seasonal three-course menus or tapas. With 40 restaurants taking part in the island-wide Ibiza Sabor and 17 restaurants in San Antonio's Restaurat, you are truly spoilt for choice. Some of the island's best eateries are participating, so this is your chance to get a gastro treat for not much money. Yum yum.

Pacha keeps the flame burning

People with Pacha withdrawal symptoms as the legendary nightclub is not open this winter (for now) will be pleased to hear that across the road at El Hotel Pacha comes pop-up club the Cherry Room. Party people won't feel adrift. With a menu of deep funky and house grooves with DJs Angel Linde and Willie Graff, cocktails and tapas, your Pacha pangs will be sorted.

Christmas at the market

The famous hippy market is back with its Christmas Market from 15 December 2017 to 5 January 2018 with over 50 stalls with some lovely decorations, wrapping paper and other Christmas bits. There are also the usual artisan-made products, clothing, antiques and much more. Expect live music in the restaurant where you can grab yourself some of the traditional German Christmas spiced wine, glühwein. A lovely winter warmer.
