Strange Weather

We've been experiencing some very unusual weather in Ibiza

We've been experiencing some very unusual weather in Ibiza over the last couple of weeks. Conditions which have been officially described as 'muggy' - cloudy skies and almost unbearable humidity - have prevailed.

The cause of the weather, which has sent electricity consumption soaring as people crank up their air conditioning, is a plume of hot air form the Sahara desert. Not only have we had the highest temperatures in all Spain, with the MINIMUM being 26 C, but feeling like 36 C because of the humidity, but also everything is covered with the fine sand carried from the desert by the hot air.

Whilst the rest of Spain has been drenched with refreshing thunderstorms - did you see the Spain-Scotland match in Valencia? - we have had about three drops of hot rain! The good news is that temperatures now seem to be cooling down to a more comfortable level.
