Harvard Tours to Formentera

A specially chartered cruise ship with a difference is due to arrive

A specially chartered cruise ship with a difference is due to arrive in La Savina, Formentera today. The good ship Callisto – a small, luxury Greek registered vessel – will berth packed to the gunnels with graduates from The USA's oldest university, Harvard.

35 ex students have paid between €5700 and €7000 each for a luxury 12-day educational cruise round the Mediterranean studying Phoenician, Arabic, Greek and Roman culture and ruins.
Each of the ten ports of call on the trip has had an extensive programme prepared for it by experts and in Formentera the alumni will be visiting the principal points of interest on the island including the fortified church of San Francisco and the La Mola lighthouse – the possible inspiration for Jules Verne's 'Lighthouse at the End of the World.'

Who knows, with Harvard's track record in producing Nobel Prize winners and American presidents, we may just be able to say that President So and So visited Formentera in 2008!
