Competing with some of the islands biggest parties Fabulush had a fight on its hands with the likes of Swedish House Mafia, Cocoon and Tiesto all running their events on a Monday. European Vibe have brought their renowned night that has a residency and huge fan base in Madrid to the White Isle to attempt to offer a more affordable party for both residents, workers and tourists.
As soon as I entered Es Paradis it was obvious that a lot of time, effort and money had gone into launching this event. Sexy burlesque dancers were dancing on each of the fours raised areas, spread over a big fake lipstick, a banana, a heart and one was even in a cage. The venue and décor definitely lived up to my expectations and oozed sexiness which supported their slogan Beautiful Party People. However, launching at the beginning of the season when vistors to the island are on the low side - and workers are short of cash, the night was quite quiet, but there was a steady flow of people through the doors from 1am and I felt a vibe of good things to come for the new night.
Firing the party up was Fabulush’s very own Fran Ares with a solid set dropping What a feeling remix and Laidback Lukes tune Be, which made the lower grounds circular dance floor bounce with excitement. Sought after Percussionist Fish added a real cultural party feel to the night, by playing with bongos and other instruments to compliment the DJ’s sets throughout the night adding a bit of excitement and uniqueness to the night. Finishing his set with I’m coming home and Show me love Fran Ares gave Ibiza’s clubbers a good taste of what to expect from Fabulush this summer.
DJ@War took to the balcony like DJ area and smashed out some big room house and club classics which helped the night pick up pace. Banging out remixes of classics such as Kings of Leon’s Sex is on fire and Swedish House Mafia’s One.
The gallery room was hosted by Miami Nice, and had sets from Proud DJ’s and Jevs, which I think will be a huge hit amongst tech house fans once Fabulush gets steady on its feet.
Overall, I thought that the newest party to hit the Island this season clearly has potential to be one of the sexiest nights San Antonio has to offer, but undoubtedly Fabulush has a bit of a battle to achieve the recognition it both wants and deserves.
