Playing For Change Day - Cala Llonga Beach

A free music festival.

Playing For Change Day is held each year on 19th September, with thousands of musicians, artists and volunteers freely giving there time to organise Playing For Change events around the world, now the unique event is touching down in Ibiza for the first time. Ibiza resident, Rick Van Der Mark, who has been involved with numerous Playing for Change events around the world, is bringing the island it’s first dose of Playing For Change with a free musical extravaganza. The venue is set - Cala Llonga Beach - with musicians from over 20 bands from across Ibiza gathering across 3 stages to entertain residents and tourists of all ages. You’ll be able to enjoy a taste of everything from Soul/Funk, Reggae, Blues, Jazz, Rock, Country, Pop, Percussion, Flamenco, and Fusion, all on the beach, surrounded by music-loving Ibiza residents and tourists. You can expect to spot the likes of The Mardy Johnny Depps (country pop), Hot Ice Collective (Funk/Soul) and Calypso Steelband Ibiza (Reggae, Calypso, Soco) on stage, as well as many other Ibiza favourites.

With the music satisfying the adults entertainment needs there will be plenty of activities on offer for the children, too, with an exotic animal show, foam party, children's aerobatics workshop and face painting. Food and drink stalls will offer a variety of international dishes, while a hippy market will be open throughout the day and night, offering a spot of retail therapy if you need a break from the music.

All musicians are performing free of charge, with all money raised at the event going towards supporting Playing for Change Foundations work. The foundation provide free music education programs for children and their communities in third world and disadvantaged countries. Connecting children together across the globe and giving hundreds of young people, who wouldn’t otherwise have access to music education, the chance to take part in regular music and dance lessons. To date 12 music schools and programs have been created around the world in Brazil, Ghana, Mali, Nepal, South Africa, Rawanda, Thailand and Bangladesh and over 15,000 people have benefitted.

The fun kicks of at Midday, continuing through till Midnight and this is one Ibiza party where everyone’s on the guest list. See you there!
