Things to do this month on Ibiza - January 2018

Our choice picks for the first month of the year.

If you were wondering what this month might hold on Ibiza, let us tell you that it won't be a stay at home January. With temperatures this week going up to an unseasonal 20°C there are extra reasons for getting outdoors with still plenty of options to have fun behind doors.

Enjoy the fun and a Happy New Year to all our readers!

We three kings...

For a last gasp of Christmas pageantry, get organised to see the procession or cabalgata in Spanish of the Three Kings (wise men) on the evening of 5 January. Kids and big kids will love the colourfully decorated floats, which each year have a different theme. There are processions taking place in all towns across the island. Our events' calendar has more details.

Frenetic fun

If you missed DC-10 on New Year's Day, then move over to Tanit Beach this Saturday 6 January for its Saturday sunset session, Nude from 17:00. With a DJ line-up that takes in cool tech dude, Claudio Ricci, the prolific duo Audiojack (pictured) as well as Dash and Alessandro Martini, expect some frenetic fun beachside on Playa d'en Bossa.

The power of a flower

The bars of the West End in San Antonio take on a psychedelic air this month in the annual Flower Power party on Saturday 13 January. Peace, love and bell-bottomed trousers as well as the odd droopy moustache are set to warm up January in this fabulous street party. Join in the fun from 21:00 for a late welcome to 2018!

Boost your B12 levels

Here's an electronic music gift also for 13 January. State-of-the-art techno awaits you with MuM at B12 Gallery Ibiza. The eight date of the original concept invites you down the rabbit hole with world-recognised Romanian producers and DJs Nu Zau and Pagal. From midnight to 6:00, the two will lead you in the parallel universe of moving, unifying and expressive techno at the venue that combines visual and musical art.

Sending out a Flamenco SOS

Ibiza's first flamenco festival swept into town last year and was soon standing room only. We advise on getting your tickets soon, as this year's event on 16 January has the hugely famous, in flamenco circles, Mayte Martin headlining and her voice is exceptional. Search her song ‘SOS' to get a flavour and you'll see what we mean. Ticket information to be announced soon.

Roll up, roll up

An annual pilgrimage for people of all ages is Ibiza Town's funfair. Kids get ghost trains and a ferris wheel whilst adults get bingo and a raffle where you can win legs of Spanish ham - you might need an extra suitcase. Everyone can sample an array of things to munch on at the food stalls. See here for full details.

But is it art?

This January enrich your life with art. The Art Supermarket brings you the work of 18 local artists; where you can get an original piece of Ibizan artwork from just €50. For the more pecunious, get something from the Christmas Art Market at the B12 Gallery (on till 9 January). Many ways to start that collection.
