Art everywhere at the new Paradiso Ibiza Art Hotel

Brand new hotel launches this June 2018 with art in the rooms, an art gallery and dramatic Miami styling.

Striking design, great facilities, rooms that provide every comfort and convenience: these are hallmarks of a great hotel. With the launch this 7 June 2018 of the Paradiso Ibiza Art Hotel, Ibiza is set to get a hotel that gives a whole lot more.

The new hotel, located in San Antonio Bay, is putting art left, right and centre into the lives of its guests, general art lovers and the art curious. An art gallery in the hotel is just the start, with a guest entrance inside the hotel and one for the public accessed from the outside. Art is indeed for all here.

Guests can be confident they will get something quite different, with a dedicated art programme, called Art Paradiso designed by artist Iñaki Domingo and film-maker Diana Kunst. The focus will be on urban art and performance and an overall contemporary approach to art with both international and local artists represented.

A hotel with lots of personality

Anyone that has stayed at one of the Concept Group Hotels' venues in Playa d'en Bossa will attest to the striking originality and impressive design of each. A lot of effort goes into giving each of the hotels in the group a different concept and more importantly ‘personality'. As CEO of the group Diego Calvo says, clients expect ‘not only a good bed, air-conditioning and a nice breakfast, now they want hotels where things happen and where they can have fun.'

Indeed, the art approach is interwoven into not just the programme, but the hotel itself. The dramatic exterior of the hotel, with its vertical pink fan tails borrows from the MiMo design of Miami, a post-war architectural movement that came as a response to stark minimalism. A much more extravagant way of styling, it introduced themes of glamour and fun to building and this has been successfully transplanted to San Antonio Bay.

Dramatic Miami-style looks

A look outside: the exterior of the new hotel

The interior, like all the hotels in the group, has been created by design studio Ilmio Design with pastel colours of pinks and lavender predominating, again bringing out that Miami look. The hotel is already an Ibiza design classic.

Each of the hotel's Suites gets its own artwork, 10 of which will be by local artists. As Diego points out though, ‘we haven't just added the words "art hotel" to the name just by hanging art in the rooms, like other hoteliers do. We've created a constantly changing art calendar'.

Three different art exhibitions will take place during high season and all will be related to the hotel's concept with tie-in activities around each event. Several international artists have already been signed up, with names like Marcos Torres, Pau Sanz i Vila, Marylou Faure and Yoko Honda on board and busy creating works for the project.

Zero in on live art residencies

One of the most exciting elements of the programme is the Zero Suite micro-residencies where young, avant-garde artists will be invited to stay in a glass cube of a room in the hotel lobby, creating art whilst soaking up the Ibiza atmosphere and that of the hotel. Each artist will also take over the hotel's social media exploring digital art and interaction, where guests and the public get to join in on the debate.

The hotel is aimed at a relatively young crowd of discerning individuals who like art, music fashion and movies. Diego adds ‘Ibiza is a little over-saturated with parties that are quite similar. For us authenticity comes from diversity' It's not all high art, it's entertainment as a visual medium too . Indeed, the hotel will also have an outdoor cinema and ‘glam bingo' with karaoke. There will even be a tattoo booth, where body art can come into the equation.

Scintillating Suites

Music, goregous design - even an in-room cocktail bar adds to the art mix

Sited in Suites with gorgeous revival 1970s decor, guests will be visually inspired by what's around them. Each of them have Marshall speakers meaning music soundtracks can be easily self-created. Even the design of the Smeg fridges in all Suites provides a muse. An art library filled with books on contemporary art is also on hand in the hotel, which guests can peruse with cocktail in hand when in need of further artistic stimuli.

With a desire to be a game-changer for Ibiza's cultural fabric, we think the Paradiso Ibiza Art Hotel has certainly cracked it and is delivering a refreshing and exciting way to enjoy both art and the island. Time to check it out for yourself.
