Cocoon unveils full season line-up

Sven Väth announces the names joining him for the 19th season of Cocoon at Pacha.

Brace yourselves. Not only do we have an entirely re-imagined Pacha waiting to be discovered but also the 19th season of Cocoon. With the week-by-week line-ups now unveiled, Wednesdays at Pacha become quite frankly unmissable.

The season hasn't even started yet, and already Cocoon has been on everyone's mouth for months. Not least because of its seismic switch from San Rafael – a home for 18 years – to settle under Pacha's twin cherries.

But enough of the speculation already. This is what Cocoon does best - stellar line-ups week in, week out. Sven Väth plays 14 of the 19 Wednesdays, including the opening and closing parties, as is always the case.

If you're looking for big-hitters, few hit harder than Richie Hawtin. A friend of Cocoon, Richie can be found at Cocoon no less than three times this summer, including a salivating night alongside Sven. Hawtin returns to head-up proceedings in September, this time alongside Ilario Alicante.

With Sven already being confirmed as a +1 guest of Solomun in yesterday's news, the favour is returned as Mladen plays Cocoon. This tumultuous pairing is sure to be one of the tickets of the season.

Looking at some more key dates, everybody's favourite Siberian DJ Nina Kraviz has been locked down in September for her single Cocoon outing. More A-list guests include Running Back boss Gerd Janson and old Cocoon favourite Luciano, who'll be returning to his old Pacha stomping ground.

Even the non-Sven dates are dripping with enough talent, his presence will not be missed. Drumcode couple Adam Beyer and Ida Engberg steer the ship in June, alongside Ilario Alicante. Meanwhile, Richie Hawtin takes charge in mid-August with support from Nastia and Einzelkind.

Ricardo Villalobos, Seth Troxler and Craig Richards link up for one of their fabled back-to-back-to-back at the beginning of July. Other guests include leftfield enigma DJ Koze, hot industry prospect Peggy Gou and Maeve founder Mano Le Tough.

Cocoon regular Ilario Alicante has three dates, whilst there are also multiple shows for the likes of Dana Ruh and Dorian Paic.

As you can see, Cocoon may be in a new home but it sticks to a tried and tested formula. No more than three acts listed in any one room, usually only two and sometimes just the one. Less is more.

Speaking of all night longs, there are several. Sven plays two of his legendary open-to-close sets over the course of the season. Long-time Cocoon fans know these dates, in particular, are not to be missed. We get the full Sven range from melodic, to trippy, to hard pumping techno.

There are also all night long sets courtesy of second-generation Detroit ambassador Carl Craig and a couple from Ibiza-based Cassy.

Fans of live electronic music artists are well catered for at Cocoon and this year is no different. Christian Burkhardt, KiNK and Matador all get the opportunity to showcase their amazing skills.

Other guests throughout the season include Roman Flügel, Carola Pisaturo, D'Julz, Traumer, Shonky, Fabe, Markus Fix, tINI and Julian Perez.

Of course, the new era begins on 30 May when Sven is joined by Âme in the main room. We cannot wait. Before then, Papa Sven eases cravings by giving us a little preview on Saturday 5 May.

Put simply, there is no weak date.

Whichever way you look at it, this is shaping up to the be the biggest season in years for Sven and the Cocoon camp.
