Top 5: Sunset Strip Bars

Hannah Davies dissects her top 5 places to visit amongst the several bars and restaurants along the world famous San Antonio Sunset strip.

1. Mambo

For many years now, Mambo has held the crown, formerly of Café Del Mar, as the top restaurant and bar on the sunset strip. With DJ sets from headlining acts to their gourmet menu and amazing views, Mambo is definitely the place to indulge in some fancy grub and music whilst giving you the best seat in the house to watch the sunset.

2. Savannah

Savannah Beach Club which is along from Mambo has a more tranquil atmosphere for those who want to get away from the hustle and bustle created around Café Del Mar and Mambo from 9pm. With an equally pleasing menu and views this swanky sunset bar will add a bit of class to your night and even hosts its own parties in their backroom on Fridays. Guest DJs for sunset and pre-parties also include Laidback Luke.

3. Kanya

Kanya is on the cusp of Cala des Moro, with fantastic scenic views and its own pool, this bar/restaurant is a great place to relax both during the day and in the evening. Also hosting its own DJ booth, which overlooks the pool, Kanya keeps with what Ibiza is famous for...music. There is also a pool table, sofa area and inside and outside bars for those who want to either relax poolside or chill out inside.

4. The Golden Buddha

This bar sits directly behind the beach of Cala des Moro, serving ice cold beer for 3 Euros a pint and a delicious menu of a select tapas, this beach side bar is a perfect choice for a change of scenery. The main attraction has to be the huge sofas and four poster frames at the front, where customers can sunbathe all day or simply chill out with friends in the shaded areas. The Golden Buddha is surprisingly quiet, which makes a visit there even more enjoyable, especially when combined with the small beach and beautiful views on its doorstep.

5. Canguiribar

A pretty much overlooked bar along the sunset strip near Cala des Moro, this bar is very unique and different compared to the other glamorous bars you may see. With bamboo and wooden interior and décor, a real forest like vibe is created, even the DJ booth, walls and bar are made out of wood. Set lower than the promenades level you have to step down into the bar which also has a low ceiling adding to its unique feel. Canguirabar is a real chill out venue and gives you a complete change of scenery compared to the other bars on the strip, but don’t worry, the amazing sunset and Mediterranean views are still unmissable.

Think we're missing a rather obvious and famous one? We'll have a special feature on Café Del Mar soon.
