14th Annual DJ Awards 2011

A large gathering of electronic music industry professionals gather together to rejoice in their own hard work. High five to the winners!

So, Tuesday night saw the DJ Awards return to the glamorous surrounds of Pacha nightclub in Ibiza for its 14th year. The show was hosted by previous host Des Paul and also Emma B as they bounced funnies off each other leading some genuinely amusing moments. Which is rare at an awards show, usually its just awkward over scripted cheese, so credit to those two first off.

The idea behind the awards show is to celebrate the artists or people that have made a significant impact on the electronic music scene across 22 broad categories. See below for the list of the categories, and winners. Pacha was packed full of the usual glammed up clubbers and a fine smattering of DJs, singers, models, record label execs, company CEOs and more. It was impressive to see such a large gathering of music industry professionals in one place on one night, proof of the pulling power of the DJ Awards and of course Pacha who are heavily involved in the setup. Even Paris Hilton flew in for the occasion with new BFF Afrojack to present his awards. I know, how exciting.

People doing well were Luciano, Jamie Jones and Armin Van Buuren as they all picked up two awards each, but essentially there was a good spread of winners who all paid their dues to the music industry in one way or another, do you agree with the winners list? Share your thoughts.

Jose Pascual, founder of the DJ Awards said, “It has been an evolutionary season for dance music in Ibiza, and we wanted to reflect that at the event. It was a very special night and without a doubt, one of the best!”
