Review: Bollywood Indian restaurant

Bollywood Indian Restaurant on the Santa Eulalia port front impresses with reasonable prices and great cuisine.

Situated directly on the port front of Santa Eulalia, just a gentle one minute stroll (to the left) from the main port entrance, there's a sense of walking through millionaires row for the "wet set". Just feet away from yachts one might dream of owning, the sense of tranquility, beauty and romance was assured. Arriving, at the landmark of two tinkling Indian umbrellas, we were seated on the terrace facing the yachts.

A starter shared of samosas and tandoori chicken impressed. The samosas were well filled and to my delight, not in the least greasy (pet hate). The chicken tandoori - huge pieces - were enviably succulent & moist, the flavour perfect. Papadoms with mixed dips were well received, my guest impressed with the complementing dips - spicy, sweet, to creamy. It was so noticeable, so refreshing that I must remark on the papadoms - obviously just made and whilst I was baffled as to the how, utterly grease free.

A mains of Saag Murgh (chicken curry, requested with medium spiciness - how does one define an individuals 'medium'?) and Prawn Biryani was ordered, along with the house speciality, Cheese Naan. At the table opposite, a couple who have visited the island religiously for the last four years, were obviously delighted with their meal. Tucking into ours, I understood why. The dishes were superbly flavoured and prawns & chicken alike of good size, quantity and freshness. This wasn't just a good Indian but a good restaurant.

Look out for the street entertainers that pass by, pausing to entertain those lucky enough to have booked a table on the terrace. Talking of booking, do! Every table in the restaurant was full throughout the course of our evening. Typical of Ibiza, having only opened three weeks ago (formerly on the famed 'restaurant street' of Santa Eulalia), the jungle drums beat hard and fast both of the good & the bad of the island & the word's obviously out about Bollywood. Book, enjoy, return home sated & content you've chosen well! Bon profit!

NB. It should be noted that not able to finish my meal, such were the servings, that it was good enough for me to ask for a 'doggie bag' - the first time I've done that in all my years on this magical island!

Dinner, minus drinks, can easily be enjoyed for 25-30€ per head. Good value in a superb setting.
