Christmas lights up a new part of Ibiza Town

New location for 2016

camera

Christmas is upon us and excitement is in the air as we anticipate the arrival of lights, trees and festivities on Ibiza!

The majestic boulevard of Vara de Rey, with its central location, buzzing bars and open space, has always been the epicentre of Christmas in Ibiza Town, but this year, with major renovation works being carried out there, the city council will be re-locating the tree and market to keep up those Christmas spirits.

It was announced this week that the new nucleus of “Navidad” will be...drum roll please...Plaza Antoni Albert I Nieto at the top end of the town. The lights are being hung right now in the new location with the adjacent street of Boulevard Abel Matutes being the spot to head to for the Christmas lights illuminations on 1 December 2016 next week at 18.30 h.

The Christmas market, held in the same plaza, runs until until 8 January 2017 from 11h to 22 h and is being launched on the same day as the lights are lit. Each year the market has many stalls selling a range of handmade and unique gifts and lots of gorgeous Christmas decorations. You’ll also find stalls selling local food like sobrasada, the spreadable spicy sausage, local cheeses plus locally produced wine for when you fancy a seasonal tipple.

Plaza Antoni Albert I Nieto provides a fantastic alternative to Vara De Rey. It has been host to numerous events already, including many island fiestas and is also conveniently placed close to several car parks, the main bus station and a taxi rank. It is a huge open space with sheltered spots, has a children's park next door and is surrounded by shops, bars and restaurants.

Get yourselves along to see Ibiza Town’s Christmas lights being lit and enjoy one of the White Isle’s winter wonders.
